It's been a while since I have done any proper work on the tag cloud as it has been quoted as working very well, however, I have had feedback with foreign characters such as German/Spanish specific categories. Apologies in advance for it taking me so long to get a fix out but it's been difficult to test as not all servers support the correct enctype. Before using this, ensure utf8 is being used.
The problem lied in the regex being used to strip out non alphanumeric characters and this has now been fixed. This is the only bug fix in this release, however, I always appreciate feedback.

I would also be grateful if there's an option to strip html tags.it's not fun to have 'stylefontsize' and 'subst' in the results page :P

although i have chose 'not to support the development of this project', it doesn't mean i'm not interested with helping out :)
i found 2 bugs, actually,
1)in helper.php line 139, there's a division by $difference.when this one is null, there's no way to catch the exception. i had to make a turn around just to avoid the bug: if ($difference == 0) $difference=1; just before this line.i know it might screw the algorithm,but at least,i won't get the division by null.
2)wouf! the virtuemart syntax in mod_tagCloud.php is wrong, and should be this:
$data .= $helper->getWords('vm_product', '`product_s_desc`, `product_desc`, `product_name`', '`product_publish`=\'Y\'');
the table is vm_product,not vm_products,
and the where cause is product_publish,not publish,
and Y is a string,so i had to add the ' with the escape chars.

The Tag Cloud is a very good module, thanks for all your work.
There's still a problem with foreign characters and/or the 'latest' version - I downloaded 0.6 (post-20/8/10) yet when installed it still shows up as 0.5 (as in the file 'mod_tagcloud.xml').
Words like 'étranger' and 'méthode' in French show up as 'tranger' and 'thode' respectively, so there's still the problem of the initial foreign character and those inside a word. Moreover, I cannot eliminate these odd words ('tranger' and 'thode') by adding them into the Exclude List.
Please sort it out when you get a moment!

Hi Andy,
I found out the regex expressions are still preventing the plugin from functioning correctly: they resulted in "vivision by Zero" warnings.
I commented them out, and now they are working correctly. As soon as you have fixed this bug, I will turn on the discreet signature... I do not feel like referring visitors to a broken plugin.
