MyFBpa Launched - Planetarion Clone based on MyPHPpa

Wednesday, 24 March 2010 22:39

I've been publishing a lot of Joomla extensions lately on the blog, and to those of you who follow me and don't use Joomla this post will come as a breath of fresh air. Myself and Zane have finally got MyFBpa ready for launch and good for BETA. The project is a tick based facebook application game based on MyPHPpa created by Khan around 10 years ago.

Free Joomla admin template (jQuery Desktop) v0.9.1 beta

Monday, 15 March 2010 00:19

It has been two weeks since the last release but a lot of people have been requesting various things and as with all BETA models there is a lot of bugs that need fixing! I have fixed a lot of issues, and added some more functionality to the admin template, and as always would love further feedback.

Joomla! tag cloud module v0.5 beta

Saturday, 06 March 2010 20:18

I've had a lot of good feedback on this module so didn't want to dissapoint and let it float off into that pile of projects which doesn't get touched. Based on feedback through the comments on v0.4 beta tag cloud I have rectified the following issues, and hopefully we should be close to exiting beta!

Joomla! admin template - jQuery Desktop v0.9 beta

Saturday, 27 February 2010 12:36

Such popular demand on this opensource jQuery desktop template has caused me to create a section specifically for publicising the jQuery desktop template for the Joomla admin panel. I have amended the admin template issues which have been reported through the comments system on the previous post for joomla admin template v0.8 beta If possible I would appreciate any bugs to be posted in the forum for the admin template. Comments of suggestions/praise/hate are still welcome of course, but if bug fixes could be posted in the forums I'll find it easier to repair them quicker. Screenshots of the jQuery desktop admin template are here

Free Joomla Admin Template (jQuery Desktop)

Sunday, 21 February 2010 04:31

I mentioned a while back I was working on a desktop template and I decided instead of just releasing the template as a .html file for all to use how they wanted (which you still can simply by downloading the files from the desktop demo), I have made it into a joomla administrator template which is free for anyone to use and released under GNU/GPL 2 licence.

The joomla admin template is using jquery and gives a nice desktop feel similiar to that of a mac. I am running beta on this template so please be patient during updates. I have found it to be stable and running well in Safari 4.x and Firefox 3.x and it 'works' in IE8, do not ask me to make the template run in IE7 or IE6 I won't be supporting legacy browsers on this project.

Automated Joomla tag cloud module

Sunday, 07 February 2010 21:15

When working on Joomla websites it is often that people would prefer it to be able to provide a more Wordpress like blog feel when it is being used as a blog, one of these things is the widgets panel in the sidebar. Tag clouds are often used to give a bump in SEO and also to help the user get a good idea of what content the website contains. When looking through the joomla extensions I came across a few half-hearted attempts at tag clouds which involved you manually turning off/on words you wouldn't want in the cloud.

Simple Google Analytics Joomla Module

Saturday, 09 January 2010 00:10

On an almost weekly basis at work a Google Analytics for a Joomla installation needs to be applied, now I'm very aware that we can just place it directly into the template file, however it is much more user friendly and easier to use to have a simple Google Analytics module so we can easily apply google analytics to existing joomla installations as well as new ones.

Placing fb:multi-friend-selector (friend invite form) into an fb:dialog (facebook popup)

Thursday, 03 December 2009 13:45

Recently I have been doing a lot of work with Facebook apps, and occasionally I came across issues such as this one with the FBML (Facebook Markup Language) and FBJS (Facebook JavaScript) where they seemed very difficult or impossible to do. I was trying to make a simple popup with my FBML application (note not Iframe applicaiton) and the popup using the fb:dialog element is not adjustable in its size, so instead of attempting to adjust that I change the row count of the invitation form, which was almost there. Then by removing the border it was only 2 pixels out so I did a little CSS hack using negative margins.

Breaking the silence

Monday, 30 November 2009 22:40

Its been over a month since a blog post, and I figured I would give the world an update into what I'm getting upto. Basically I'm actively developing on two personal projects currently, one being a jQuery desktop template and another being a remake of the well known tick based game myphppa, it is being reinvented as a Facebook application, although the application stage is in early stages (soon to be opened under BETA) and the jQuery desktop template soon to be available under Open BETA I would ask everyone is patient and "watch this space" the myphppa application will be released under the name of MYFBPA a slight name modification to suit the new environment that will be holding it. Thanks for waiting, it will be worth it!

Beginners guide to Search Engine Optimisation

Thursday, 22 October 2009 07:26

Recently I have had a lot of exposure to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and it turns out that trying to find real information about search engine optimisation isn't as easy as it would seem, you would think that people who have a real insight into the effects behind SEO would be online happily sharing their discoveries with other developers but unfortunately the ones who do are generally uneducated, and the others want you to pay for the information. I am not claiming myself as a fully qualified expert in search engine optimisation and all of its real effects across search engines (not just Google), however, I do feel that there is some real lacking content out there on this subject, and as such I would like to give my opinion and knowledge of SEO, its at least worth what it costs (FREE) unlike most companies out there which are peddling claims to get to the top of Google for frivilous un-used search terms at extortionate prices. Here I am going to explain how to structure content correctly, and hopefully a few tips for search engine optimisation you haven't heard of.
