23.10.2011 21:33 Re: Enable notifications I have a similar issue. I'd like the author of the article to receive e-mail notifications when a comment is posted -- I also don't publish comments by default, so this would be really needed. I don't know who gets the notification by default if I tick the box in the settings, but so far I'm not getting it when testing the stuff.
Thanks a lot in advance!

24.10.2011 03:26 Re: Enable notifications Hi guys,
The main system email is where notifications will be sent to, also if you've replied to comments and checked "receive notifications" you will receive mails.
If you haven't setup Joomla mail configuration correctly no notifications will be sent out. This will can be setup easily in global config.
Thanks,
Andy

24.10.2011 05:53 Re: Enable notifications Maybe it's just me, but I can't find any main system e-mail stuff in Global Configuration. What I can do is to set my user to receive system e-mails in the user manager, and it seems to work, because I can mail myself from within Joomla. The registration mail from community builder also arrives fine. The notifications on the comments, however, seem to be lost somewhere.
What am I doing wrong or missing here?
Thanks :)

24.10.2011 07:04 Re: Enable notifications It's hard to tell but system email should be in admin>global config>serveron the right hand side should be a section called "Mail settings". Can you confirm this is setup correctly?
The problem is that other components (CB included) are renowned for cutting corners on things like sending out an email and not using the JFramework and simply using mail() instead which would explain theirs work and mine not, however, a system message should cover off that.
I have considered taking out the use of JFramework on this segment as although it's best practice and the way it SHOULD be coded, it seems to cause problems with several peoples setups.

24.10.2011 07:57 Re: Enable notifications There is "mail settings" present on the right indeed, but you can't specify a single main system e-mail address there.
It's just the way joomla should handle e-mails (sendmail, php mail or smtp), the address which gets cloaked when sending out a mail (this is from, not to), the sender's name, the way to php sendmail, and other smtp stuff.
Setting "receive system e-mails" in the users panel works fine though, as I've just tried registering, and now I (as an admin) am getting a mail when a user registers (and this comes from the joomla framework, not from cb I think, but maybe I'm wrong). Mailing myself from within joomla is surely using the J framework though, and it works as well.
For some reason, notifications on comments don't work... :s
Cheers
EDIT: new user reg e-mail notification is cb as well, not the J framework, I was wrong. Sending out a mass mail to myself works though.

24.10.2011 08:11 Re: Enable notifications We set up a small script with my friend which sends out an e-mail when an article is archived, and that works through the JFramework, and works fine, so the setup must be okay.

01.11.2011 00:32 Re: Enable notifications Deleting the comments works great in the new version, however, I'm still unable to get notifications to work. Any idea what can I mess up? Joomla mail is set up fine I guess as I'm receiving mass mails from joomla, also "receive moderator e-mails" is set to yes.
Still, I don't get any notifications, and as the comments are unpublished by default, it would be great if I got a mail if I had some work to do and publish or delete some of them.
Thanks :)

I am having the same problem with notifications. I have to log in to my back end to see if i got any comments. Then I can not tell which article the comment was made to because the link in the comment information screen brings back a 404 error.
I double checked my mail settings and sent test mail from Joomla and it all works.
Right now I will have to look through all articles on my blog to see where the comment was to reply.
Looking forward to an early reply. Thanks.

05.11.2011 04:46 Re: Enable notifications Hi,
I have checked the Joomla mail settings but I still do not get notifications from Udja. The other problem is that I can not tell what post my visitors comment on because the link generated on the comment information section brings back a 404 error.
Please help.

26.01.2012 09:50 Re: Enable notifications Just to add my two cents here. I am receiving no notifications to the email address that is setup in the Global Configuration settings. I've tested this with PHP Mail and Sendmail. I've tested this with the 'Receive Notification' being checked below the CAPTCHA entry. Still no email has been received. I've tested this with three different emails, checked the inbox and spam filter folders on all three email accounts.
I do receive other notifications almost immediately so I know the Global Configuration settings are fine.
For the record: No notification is physically being sent from this component.
My Joomla version is:
Joomla! 2.5.0 Stable [ Ember ] 24-Jan-2012 14:00 GMT
I love this component and will use it even with the notification problems.
